M.A. HRM (Human Resource Management)

INTRODUCTION

M.A(HRM) is a Unique course in which students study 18 HR related papers right from first semester, whereas students of MBA(HR) study only 4 HR related papers in the final year.

ABOUT THE COURSE

MA HRM aims to develop tomorrow’s business leaders through integrated learning and industry-academic partnerships.MA HRM degree tends to be more subject specific. This course is designed to provide a more explicit coverage of HR topics and specialties with the intention of preparing the student for a more quantitative and research-oriented focus, probably opening the way to enrollment in a Ph.D. program. All faculty members play an important role in administering the diverse academic and non-academic activities of the Institute.

ELIGIBILITY

A student who has passed bachelor's degree in any discipline, is eligible for admission to this course.

DURATION OF THE COURSE

The duration of the course is 2 years (Full time) under choice based credit system (Semester pattern)

ACADEMIC PROGRESSION

Students who have completed their post graduation can pursue their higher studies like M.Phil, Ph.D.

CAREER PROGRESSION

In today's world of constant corporate churn, a successful company's most important assets are its employees. The Human Resource function hence has become of prime focus for organizations with a strong long term vision. Human Resource Management graduates have a lot of potential as every industry/organization needs these professional for maintaining their labour force.HR students are placed in various organizations such as Corporate houses, Multinational Companies, Banking financial institutions, Public and Private sector industries as Recruiter manager, Compensation manager, Employee relation manager, Strategic manager, HR auditor, HR planning

The main subject of the study for Master Degree shall consist of core subjects and electives as well as extra disciplinary.

Duration of the course is for two years, two academic years consisting of four semesters. Each academic year shall be divided into two semesters. The first academic year shall comprise first and second semesters and the second academic year the third and fourth semester respectively.

The odd semesters shall consist of the period from June to November of each year and the even semesters from December to April of each year. There shall be not less than 90 working days for each semester. A candidate shall be eligible for the award of the degree only if he/she has undergone the prescribed course of study in a college affiliated to the University for a period of not less than two academic years, passed the examination of all the four semesters prescribed earning 90/91 credits and fulfilled such conditions as have been prescribed thereof. The candidates after obtaining Master Degree are eligible for,

  • M.Phil.,
  • Ph.D.,

The job opportunities are abundant in commercial enterprises, software companies and banks in the areas of Accounts, Marketing and Advertisement. Knowledge of SAP is an additional benefit. Good career prospects also exist in the academic profession.

The Department of M.A(HRM) was established in the year 2011 which caters to the demand of management professionals by preparing its students for challenging careers through an intensive curriculum. This course is designed to ensure the holistic development of students and instills in their professionalism, critical thinking and decision making.

Association Activities

The Department of English held the inauguration of the Literary Club ‘Zenlitt’ on 30th September, 2014 in the College premises. Dr. V. Ganesan, Associate Professor, Department of English, AM Jain College, inaugurated the Literary Club and delivered the Lecture on “Post-Colonial Literature in English”. The Department took great interest in the inauguration of the Book Club. Dr. V. Meena Kumari, Associate Professor, Department of English, Anna Adarsh College For Women, inaugurated the Book Club and delivered a Lecture on ‘Journalism’, which was held in the month of February, 2015.

On 2nd, September, 2015, Mr. Sundar Ganesh, Director, Roja Muthiah Library, inaugurated the Club and delivered a Lecture on ‘Significance of Books’.

The laboratory experiences provide opportunities for students to interact directly with the material world using innovative instruments and technologies. The course mainly aims on an intensive introduction about the techniques of theoretical and experimental chemistry to the students. The chemistry lab is well equipped with latest version of instruments like digital conductivity meter, digital potentiometer, centrifuge machine, hot air oven, suction pump, Kipp’s apparatus, electronic and chemical balances, hot air oven and muffle furnace. The lab is highly ventilated and can accommodate 45 students. Students are given complete training on handling various apparatus and glasswares. Theoretical sessions are arranged for the students in preparing chemical solutions and handling of hazardous chemicals which will facilitate student’s research career in their higher studies. Students from other domains are also given hands on training in the chemistry lab as a part of interdisciplinary course offered by the institution.

Department Activities

The Department of Business Administration inaugurated "ESPRIT" club in 2009-2010 and organizes guest lectures by experienced professionals and entrepreneurs to facilitate the students to be acquainted with the contemporary inclination of business and trade activities. Guest lectures have been conducted in various areas such as Sales & Marketing, Finance & Capital Markets, Personnel & Human Resources, Production & Manufacturing, etc.

The Department in association with the Women Cell of our college, conducted Trade Fair in 2011,and provided an opportunity for the students to exhibit their handmade, craft, and other self made products in order to widen their in-built talents and entrepreneurial skills hidden with them. Many of them are receiving regular orders from various sources for their products.This lends a hand to the students to take part in "Earn While You Learn" program also.

The department has organized a Guest Lecture on January 10, 2013 for the III B.B.A. and I M.Com students.The Guest Speaker of the day was Mr.B.Chandra Moulish M.A., M.B.A. Country Head, Maharishi Group who delivered a visual presentation on "Customer-Oriented Service Marketing".

The department has also organized an Industrial Visit to SCHWING STETTER INDIA PVT. LTD.,SIPCOT Industries, Sriperumbudur for III B.B.A. students on March 8, 2013.

Association Activities: 2014
  • A workshop on “ARDUINO” was organized by the Department of Electronics on March 26th 2018.
  • The resource person Mr. Sridhar & his team were from an organization “3i Innovative solutions”.
  • They gave a brief presentation on the features of Arduino.
  • More than 50 students participated in the workshop.
  • After the presentation, Arduino kits were given to the students to execute various codings.
  • The students actively participated and learnt about arduino.

Association Activities: 2016

  • Two-day workshop on 23rd & 24th June 2016 Orientation on entrepreneurshipwas conducted by the Department of Business Administration and HRM of Bhaktavatsalam Memorial College. Around 80 students from various courses participated in the programme. Among them, five students were selected for internship training, said a release.
  • The students of MA (HRM) Visited to the Hatusun Agro Private Limited, Kancheepuram on 22nd sep 2016.Students queried and clarrified the doubts related to their marketing techniques, their production methods of satisfying various specification of time and tools adopted by them to match their customers demand etc,.
  • Intercollegiate -ADROIT2016 held on 7th october 2016. The cheif guest Dr.Kishore Vaangal, Business Analyst , Chennai gave the inaugural address. He inspired audience by his valuable speech on 7 dimensions for Excellence in life. Various events were B.Quiz, Block & Tackle, Stress Interview, Team building and Poster presentation.
  • Students participated on Jan 2017. Two Days Programme on Entrepreneurship in association with IIM, Calcutta
  • Community Services - Services by our Students in association with ARUWE, an NGO functioning at Ayanavaram, Ch-23.
  • Augmentation Course conducted by the department to different discipline of students.
  • Department has conducted Leadership Skills- Continuing Education Course to the art, science and technical students.

Academic Achievements

Academic Proficiency or Overall Topper prize is awarded to the student who has secured the highest percentage in the University Examinations in the department during her period of study.
