ABOUT THE COURSE:

M.Sc Applied Psychology is a comprehensive program which provides an opportunity to gain an advanced understanding in the areas like counselling, social psychology, cognitive psychology, marketing and advertising psychology, organisational psychology, health psychology. The subjects like research methodology and project will enhance the research orientation, in turn motivates to pursue further research.

 ELIGIBILITY:

Pass in B.A./ B.Sc. in Psychology/Under graduate in other disciplines with Psychology as a core subject/Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) / UG degree in Nursing / Physiotherapy/BDS/MBBS

DURATION OF THE COURSE:

 Each academic year shall be divided into two semesters.  The first academic year shall comprise the first and second semesters, the second academic year the third and fourth semesters respectively. The odd semesters shall consist of the period from June to November of each year and the even semesters from December to April of each year.  There shall be not less than 90 working days for each semester.  

 ACADEMIC AND CAREER PROGRESSION:.

 Once completing the master’s degree, the students may pursue further studies and may complete their Ph.D. or may take up job opportunities in  Colleges, Schools, hospitals, clinics, Welfare organizations, the advertising industry, multi-national companies, defence forces, community and mental health centres, prisons and correctional programs and institutions, child care, rehabilitation centres, youth guidance etc as counselling psychologist / clinical psychologist/ therapist/ human resource manager / Trainers / academicians.

YEAR OF COMMENCEMENT OF THE COURSE:  2019-2020

The P.G. Department of Applied Psychology is established during the academic year 2019 -2020.  The department has qualified and dedicated faculty member who strive for the students’ excellence. In addition to academics, the students are also encouraged to take part in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. The department also moulds the students to imbibe moral values and to develop an attitude to contribute to the needs of the society.

The Department of Psychology is equipped with sophisticated laboratory. The students are exposed to various psychological tests such as Intelligence test, attention tests, learning tests, personality test, memory assessment, etc., in their course. The laboratory comprises equipments such as Division of attention board, Tachistoscope, Muller Lyer Illusion board, O.Conor’s Tweezer dexterity board, Mirror Drawing board, Human Maze Learning board, Concept Formation blocks, Progressive weights, Color Preference board, Bhatia’s Battery of Performance Test of Intelligence, Habit interference Board etc., In addition to the apparatus, the laboratory also has standardized questionnaires and inventories to assess various psychological variables.
